I finally got to see her for the first time at 5:00pm, but only for 10 minutes. She had rapid breathing, low blood sugar and a heart murmur so she had to stay in NIC unit for most of the day.
Marcello spent most of the day with Makayla in the NIC unit but he did not get his chance to hold her until 9:00pm, when she finally was able to come stay in my room. It was a long exhausting day! We're glad to be "over the hump". Blood sugar and breathing stabilized and the heart murmur will hopefully have corrected itself. We do another scan in two weeks to make sure.
The pitter-patter of tiny feet make their way into Daddy's heart!
Makenzie and Francesco had to wait till the next day to meet their new sister.
